The plumbers on the job
Gary O'Toole - Principal Plumber
Gary O’Toole
Principal Plumber
Gary brings over four decades of experience in the plumbing, heating, and construction industries. His career began at the age of 17, when he undertook a four-year plumbing and heating apprenticeship, earning a distinction in the City and Guilds Plumbing qualification. Building on this foundation, Gary continued to expand his expertise, obtaining additional qualifications in heating and plumbing engineering.

At the age of 21, Gary ventured into self-employment as a gas engineer, specialising in the installation of heating systems, bathrooms, and various types of plumbing work, including lead roofing—an expertise that has since become a niche trade.

In 1985, Gary’s career took a significant turn when he was offered a role by a groundworks company to oversee and install complex drainage systems for large housing developments. His work included everything from standard domestic drainage to public sewers up to 1.2 metres in diameter. Over the next eight years, he managed sites with up to 80 houses, becoming the site manager for the company’s largest projects.

Following his success in groundworks, Gary established his own construction business, building extensions and housing projects for various clients. He later shifted focus to buying and refurbishing properties for resale or investment. In the early 2000s, Gary saw an opportunity to apply his skills in the commercial sector, beginning with a complete fit-out of his children’s school toilets. This experience led him to specialise in fitting out commercial washrooms for pubs, clubs, schools, and office buildings.

Today, Gary works alongside his son, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience. His passion for the trade remains as strong as ever, and he continues to contribute his expertise to each project with the same dedication and enthusiasm that has defined his long and successful career.

Joan O'Toole - runs the entire company run smoothly
Joan O’Toole
Administrator

My role at Warma Heating and Plumbing is to schedule call-outs and general admin tasks as and when needed.

My background in an administrative work began at the Civil Service when I was eighteen. I stayed in this role for five years and developed skills such as communicating between departments, navigating governmental procedures and a keen work ethic.

I then moved to a small fashion label where I further developed my abilities to communicate effectively in a business environment, followed by a period at a small interior design firm before starting our family.

I have supported my husband in an administrative and supportive capacity throughout our career as small business owners with Oakleaf Washrooms. I am now very pleased to be involved with my husband and son’s plumbing and heating venture.
